BIOGRAPHY

"My love for photography came at an early age. I remember being extremely frustrated trying to photograph seagulls in flight on an old Kodak Instamatic camera in Cornwall with my parents. I soon upgraded that camera and started photographing friends, which years later led me to study photography in Birmingham.

All this led to assisting emerging London fashion photographers in the late 90s, a reactionary time for fashion that caused the industry to stop and take stock. Anything was possible, and simplicity was key, and it proved effective: 'Kill your darlings,' as they say. I look back on those days fondly.

Nowadays, I aim to combine commercial and personal work equally, and I am always on the lookout for like-minded people to collaborate with, so if you are interested in an old-school face-to-face analogue meeting, please get in touch.

Concept is important to me, which is evident in my work. It's interesting where inspiration can be sourced. I often find myself distracted and fascinated by the mundane: ripped posters in the street, patterns on pavements, etc. It's the imperfections, the obscure and abstract, that catch my attention and feed creativity."

Anthony Hill is an English photographer based in Stockholm, working with studio and location-based assignments.
